Lazaroo – Thursday, October 28, 2009
Oct 28, 2010 I Lazaroo.
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, without excuse:
“When Israel became strong, they pressed the Canaanites into forced labor but never drove them out completely.”
(Judges 1:28)
This can’t be my epitaph, Jesus.
It just can’t.
I can’t bear the thought –
that on the day of my funeral
the people who know me best
would walk up to my casket
stand over my dead body
shake their heads
and think –
“He accomplished so much
made a genuine difference
helped a ton of people…
“…too bad he was never able
“to conquer that.”
It’s gotta go.
I’ve gotta beat it.
But I can’t.
Not in my own strength.
If I’ve proven anything to myself
I’ve proven that.
It’s gotta be You working in me
me surrendering totally to You
not just as soon as I get through this crisis
not next week when I have more time
not day after tomorrow
Today.
Now.
