Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in utter amazement:

“And God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.”
(Genesis 2:3)

Wow, LORD.

If You needed to rest on the seventh day

so do I.

I get tired

but You don’t.

If You did, we’d never make it.

All around the world

nonstop

every moment of the day
every day of the year

Your people need You
cry out to You

and You’re always there for us

for me

even when nobody else is.

Especially when nobody else is.

So since You chose to rest on the seventh day, Jesus…

there has to be more to it than pausing to catch my breath.

Could it be as simple

and as profoundly beautiful

as Your need

and mine

to stop work

step back

and drink in the wonder of what You have made?
