Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in teachable humility:

“In the very same way, these dreamers pollute their own bodies…”
(Jude 1:8)

I have a personal question, Jesus:

Why do so many of the things that are bad for me

sound so good
look so good
taste so good
feel so good?

It’s hard to say no to immediate pleasure

for a benefit that may not pay off
until years from now
if ever.

That requires a ton of self-discipline
a truckload of trust.

Some of the things I’m tempted to do are illegal –
which does give me extra incentive.

Not only are they bad for me
they could also land me in jail!

But other things I’m tempted to do are perfectly legal.

Worse yet, a lot of people
seem to be enjoying these activities
with no ill effects whatsoever.

Please, God!

Fill my mind with what I will gain
rather than what I’m giving up.
