Lazaroo – Monday, February 18, 2013
Feb 18, 2013 I Lazaroo.
Take warning, as you pray aloud the words of this Lazaroo:
“I destroyed the Amorite before them, though he was tall as the cedars and strong as the oaks. I destroyed his fruit above and his roots below.”
(Amos 2:9)
It’s bad enough for a tree to lose its fruit, Jesus –
especially when its branches are laden with fruit
ripe and ready for harvest.
Losing an entire crop of fruit is disheartening!
Still…as long as the tree has healthy roots
it can produce more fruit next season.
But when You destroy its root
it’s dead.
No more seasons of growth.
That tree will never again produce a single fruit.
I’ve experienced some low-fruit seasons, LORD…
some no-fruit seasons, too.
But I have hope!
Up to this very minute
You’ve protected my roots.
Still…something tells me I’d better focus on some serious fruit production this season –
lest You conclude I’m no longer in need
of my roots.
