Lazaroo – Sunday, June 2, 2013

Jun 02, 2013 I Lazaroo.

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with utter abandon:

“According to their ability they gave to the treasury for this work 61,000 drachmas of gold, 5,000 minas of silver and 100 priestly garments.”
(Ezra 2:69)

I love this, Jesus!

These people were exiles!

They had been captives in a foreign land.
Their assets were meager.

Under those circumstances, most people run scared.

They hoard what little they have
fearful they won’t have enough to survive.

But not these people!

Without acting foolishly
they gave absolutely everything they could afford.

They loved You more than they loved money.

They trusted You!
They staked everything on their belief:

It is impossible
to out-give You.

They judged that being generous with You
was far safer than having extra money.

They recognized You as their Source.

They understood:

You gave it to them the first time
You could give it to them again –

and more! –

because they had put You

first.
