That would be You, Jesus.

Period.

Not me –

The harder I try in my own strength
the worse I get.

Not even the gifts, talents and well-meaning attempts of those You’ve called to assist me.

Try though they might
they don’t get it.

My depravity runs far deeper
than they can imagine.

But Your power is infinitely greater than my sinful nature!

You conquered death, hell and the grave.

You can certainly reach down deep into this aching, struggling, blackened heart of mine

and make it pure.
