Lazaroo – Wednesday, August 7, 2013

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with…a settled feeling:
“The priests, the Levites, the singers, the gatekeepers and the temple servants settled in their own towns, along with some of the other people, and the rest of the Israelites settled in their towns.”
(Ezra 2:70)
It’s nice to have a town to settle in, Jesus
a place to call my own.
Of course, there are times when I’m not exactly thrilled about the place I’ve settled.
Sometimes it’s the weather
sometimes it’s the people
sometimes it’s what’s happened there in the past
what’s happening now
what seems likely to happen in the future.
At such times I don’t feel very settled.
I daydream about moving somewhere else
anywhere else
until I remember that the grass only seems greener elsewhere
that each place has its downside
its unique challenges
and…that there’s a very good reason I’m here for this season:
You put me here.
