Lazaroo – Tuesday, July 23, 2013
No comments, Jul 23, 2013
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in deepest gratitude:
“Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth.”
(1 Corinthians 1:26)
Count me in that number, Jesus.
When You called me
I wasn’t wise –
not by Your standards.
I wasn’t influential.
I wasn’t born to royalty.
When You called me…
I really, really needed You.
I didn’t know how much at the time
but it’s becoming clearer now.
Sometimes I get discouraged by how far I yet have to go.
I’m not the Christian you deserve me to be.
Sometimes…
I’m not even a nice person.
Maybe that’s why You tell me to remember the condition I was in when You called me.
No, I’m not what I ought to be
I’m not – by Your grace – what I will be
but thank God!
I’m not what I was.
