Lazaroo – Thursday, July 4, 2013

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in sad gratitude:
“Although I have afflicted you, O Judah, I will afflict you no more.”
(Nahum 1:12)
O Jesus…
It’s tough enough to face the fact that You’ve had to afflict me:
sickness
financial hardship
family troubles
false friends
shattered dreams
fear
depression
stripped motivation
doubt.
But when I face the fact that I will never be perfect
I wonder if this cycle will ever end:
I sin
You warn
I keep sinning
You’re unbelievably patient
I conclude I can go right on sinning
without You lifting a finger to stop me
You punish me
I wake up, forsake my sin
I make new promises to You
You bless me
I’m filled with gratitude
You bless me even more
I get cocky
return to my sin
forcing You once again
to withdraw Your blessing.
I’m so glad You’ve promised! –
a day is coming
when this terrible cycle
will end.
