Lazaroo – Saturday, June 22, 2013

Own it…as you pray aloud the words of this Lazaroo:
“My sins have been bound into a yoke; by his hands they were woven together. They have come upon my neck and the Lord has sapped my strength.”
(Lamentations 1:14)
How dare he talk like that about You, Jesus?!
He may be Your chosen prophet
but why did You let him get away with such a statement?
I guess…because it’s true.
You warn me that’s what my sins will do to me –
limit my options
steal my freedom
make me a slave to others.
So I guess I shouldn’t be surprised when You do what You promised.
Except I am.
I prefer to think of it as Satan’s attack
or as others punishing me.
I would much rather think I did it to myself.
I don’t want to admit You’re the one who’s taking me to the woodshed.
That’s painfully personal
and obviously, sometimes…
necessary.
