Lazaroo – Sunday, May 26, 2013

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with burning emotion:
“I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death.”
(Philippians 1:20)
Well, first of all, Jesus – that’s an inspiring statement.
For me, it’s also an “aspiring” statement –
meaning that’s what I’m aiming for
not something I’ve achieved.
With Paul, I can certainly say:
“I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed.”
But unlike Paul, I cannot say:
“as always.”
I don’t have a spotless record.
Mine has been rather spotty.
I’ve had some good days…
but way too many bad.
However, I’m determined to exalt You while I’m in this body of mine
“whether by life or by death.”
So I guess I’d better pray for the quality Paul says it takes:
courage.
