Lazaroo – Wednesday, April 17, 2013
No comments, Apr 17, 2013
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in shocked recognition:
“My sins have been bound into a yoke…”
(Lamentations 1:14)
That’s exactly what my sins do, Jesus:
bind me
allow Satan to lead me around
like a horse with a bridle
like a dog on a choke chain
like a cow at the end of an electric prod
like a prisoner shuffling toward the gas chamber.
I don’t want that!
I was made for freedom!
Of course, that’s what I thought I was doing when I sinned –
experiencing freedom.
Little did I know I was slipping my fingers into handcuffs
walking into a cold, dank, dark jail cell
sliding my head into the hangman’s noose.
I’ve got to stop my sinning.
Oh, I think I’ve got the
no raping
no pillaging
no bank robbing stuff
pretty much under control.
It’s these other “little” sins
that bind me
like a hundred strands of sewing thread
wrapped tightly around my wrists.
