Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with total transparency:

“My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen…”

No wonder You tell me to take note of this, Jesus…

it’s tough!

Oh, not always.

When I’m being entertained, I listen.
When someone is praising me, I listen.
When people agree with me, I listen.
When I’m being trained on something important to me

I listen.

But when someone disagrees with me

I tend to react.

When I’m being criticized

I get defensive

sometimes hurt
occasionally angry.

When I can’t tell how someone’s explanation is going to benefit me

my mind has been known to wander.

When I don’t like what I’m hearing

one of my worst tendencies is to only half-listen
while mentally working on my come-back.

But You tell me to be eager to absorb everything I can

especially when it’s a correction.

Guess I’d better listen.
