Knowing You isn’t quick or easy, Jesus

For that matter, knowing me isn’t quick or easy for anybody but You!

I’m pretty complicated.

People who think they know me

don’t.

Oh, they may be able to make a few surface guesses

but when it comes to figuring out my motives
as often as not

they miss it by a mile.

I don’t even understand myself!

Just about the time I think I’ve got me figured out

I double-cross myself.

So who am I to think I could ever get to know You?

It’s only because You’ve chosen
to reveal Yourself to me.
