Lazaroo – Tuesday, March 26, 2013
No comments, Mar 26, 2013
Solemnly pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud to God:
“Hiram king of Tyre replied by letter to Solomon: ‘Because the LORD loves his people, he has made you their king.’”
(2 Chronicles 2:11)
That’s pretty strong, Jesus.
For a savvy outsider to look on and make that kind of statement, it’s easy to conclude:
Solomon must have been doing a whole lot of things right.
Of course, it’s not always that simple.
Sometimes You bless a nation in spite of its leader.
Sometimes a terrible group of people have a wonderful leader.
Accordingly, Solomon’s record as king is …complicated.
He started out so well, so humbly.
You filled him with unprecedented wisdom –
giving us through him the Bible books of
Proverbs
Ecclesiastes
Song of Songs.
Then he disobeyed You, married unbelieving women
turned his back on You as he grew older.
May my story be the exact opposite, LORD!
Draw me closer to You
with every passing day.
