Lazaroo – Monday, March 4, 2013

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in deepest trust:
“You must not eat any fat or any blood.”
(Leviticus 3:17)
You’ve done this from the very beginning, haven’t You, Jesus?
You told Adam and Eve they could eat anything they liked…
except for the tree in the middle of the garden.
At times throughout history You’ve told us not to eat:
camels
pigs
catfish
bread
grapes
road kill.
On some occasions…
You’ve commanded us not to drink wine or water.
You always had Your reasons.
Sometimes You explained them…
sometimes You did not.
But whether or not we understood
You always expected us to obey.
Why?
Because when You withhold from me one of Your gifts, I’m reminded
You’re God.
I’m not.
I belong to You.
Your merest preference
is my command.
Not only is that Your sovereign right…
But down deep in my heart
I believe every time You tell me, “No!”
It’s for my good.
