Lazaroo – Wednesday, February 6, 2013

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with pedal-to-the-metal commitment:
“I will restore your judges as in days of old, your counselors as at the beginning.”
(Isaiah 1:26)
What an intriguing blessing, Jesus.
I know what counselors are today.
We have some very good ones
along with a lot of very bad ones.
But what were Israel’s counselors like in “days of old?”
They knew Your Word, didn’t they?
They didn’t follow counseling fads
didn’t think it was their job to give mere opinion.
They saw their job to be as simple and profound
as making Your Word accessible
not only to kings
but to everyday people
applying the principles of Your Word
to everyday life.
In this promise You made through Your prophet Isaiah
You make it clear that’s the kind of counselors You seek
that such counselors are a wonderful benefit to Your people.
Fulfill Your promise in our day, LORD!
We need more Biblical counselors.
Desperately.
