Lazaroo – Saturday, February 2, 2013
No comments, Feb 02, 2013
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with the assurance only God can give:
“I also owned more herds and flocks than anyone in Jerusalem before me.”
(Ecclesiastes 2:7)
Well, La Tee Da, Solomon.
Forgive me, Jesus.
That was the first thing that popped into my head.
Every time I hear somebody bragging, I react just a bit.
When they add insult to injury and claim to be
bigger
faster
richer
smarter
holier
more experienced
better qualified
more dedicated
more insightful
harder working
more deserving
than anyone else…
I react a lot.
(I’m not going to say I react more than anyone else, but… ;-))
Having said that, here’s what I’ve discovered about me:
Sometimes the reason I react so strongly
is because I battle the same temptation myself.
I wonder if that’s the case this time.
Do I ever brag?
Do I ever brag about the fact that I don’t brag?
If so, why?
It’s not really superiority, is it?
It’s insecurity.
