Lazaroo – Thursday, January 31, 2013

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with excuseless humility:
“…if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the LORD…”
(Proverbs 2:3-5)
Forgive me, Jesus…
Most of us have a hard enough time focusing with this much passion
on wealth
fame
success.
But to call and cry out and desperately search so I can better understand
why I should fear You?
Sheesh.
Tough sell.
Intellectually, I know I should explore “the fear of the LORD.”
Spiritually, I know I should go after it.
If You tell me to do something, I should obey.
Period.
But emotionally, I’m not there.
Fear is no fun.
It feels to me like I already fear You too much.
Except…when I realize how much I’m still sinning…
I’m forced to confess:
I don’t fear You enough.
