Lazaroo – Friday, January 25, 2013
No comments, Jan 25, 2013
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in humble adulation:
“‘Let a search be made for beautiful young virgins for the king. Let the king appoint commissioners in every province of his realm to bring all these beautiful girls into the harem’…When the king’s order and edict had been proclaimed, many girls were brought….”
(Esther 2:2-3; Esther 2:8)
What would it have been like to be one of the girls not chosen, Jesus?
The feeling of helplessness –
having no control over her own life.
The loneliness of suddenly being uprooted from family and friends
forced into a foreign environment with baffling rules and procedures.
Being valued only for her physical attributes
forced to debase herself in futile competition
surrendering her virginity to a spoiled monarch
who cast her aside after one use.
Few of us get to be the “chosen one,” Jesus.
Most of know
helplessness
loneliness
debasement
firsthand.
Until, stunned…
we realize we’ve been chosen
by You.
