Lazaroo – Wednesday, January 2, 2013

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in wonder-filled trust:
“They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire…”
(Acts 2:3)
They could have been exactly that, Jesus:
“tongues of fire.”
Whenever You want to put a burning tongue above everybody’s head
You can flat-out do it.
No sweat.
But this time You didn’t.
You tell me they only “seemed” to be tongues of fire.
You’re helping me visualize the miracle You performed on the Day of Pentecost
by giving me a picture of the closest thing in my experience
to what You actually did.
So…if those weren’t literal tongues of fire
what were they?
You can’t tell me, can You?
This side of heaven
I don’t have the prior knowledge
nor the spiritual capacity to grasp it.
Right now, I’m sure of just one thing:
As cool as it would have been if they were actual tongues of fire
what they really were
was far more awesome.
