Lazaroo – Thursday, December 20, 2012
No comments, Dec 20, 2012
Allow realization to dawn, as you pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud to God:
“Wail, you who live in the market district; all your merchants will be wiped out, all who trade with silver will be ruined.”
(Zephaniah 1:11)
What if that happened in my day, Jesus?
It would be stunning.
Life as I know it would be radically changed.
It seems like everything is about money – even things that absolutely shouldn’t be –
people marry for money
lie when it puts money in their pockets
people accept jobs or change jobs because of money
even when the new job is clearly not the right fit
we think more or less of people
because of how much money they have
or don’t have
how many of us vote our pocketbooks
instead of our Bibles?
So.
If You chose to wipe out all merchants – if none of us could buy or sell anything –
would that fix us?
My guess is…
probably not.
