Lazaroo – Sunday, December 9, 2012
No comments, Dec 09, 2012
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with burning zeal:
“In the very same way, these dreamers…reject authority…”
(Jude 1:8)
It’s just human nature, isn’t it, Jesus?
We don’t like being told what to do.
When we’re little, we tell our siblings and playmates –
“You’re not the boss of me!”
As teenagers…
we chafe against our parents’ “ridiculous” rules.
As young adults…
we revel in newfound freedom to make our own rules.
But no matter who we are
how old we get
what we accomplish
there will always be those who have legitimate authority over us:
bosses
police officers
family members
judges
soldiers
heads of work groups and committees
city, state and country officials
church leaders.
As we shift roles and wear different hats
sometimes I’m called to submit today
to the person who submitted to me yesterday.
All authority originates with You.
When I submit to someone in legitimate authority over me
I’m submitting to You.
