Lazaroo – Thursday, November 15, 2012
No comments, Nov 15, 2012
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, seeking grounding in God’s Word:
“…we ask you, brothers, not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by some prophecy supposed to have come from us, saying that the day of the Lord has already come.”
(2 Thessalonians 2:1-2)
This is the age I live in, Jesus –
ratings-seeking television evangelists
back hall rumors
email forwards
street corner prophets
Facebook posts
alarmist tweets
disturbing texts
wide-eyed bloggers
instant messages
Internet news feeds
end-of-the-world predictors
What do I do with all of this?
I’m tempted to ignore every bit of it…
but what if one of these messages is true?
Some of the more obvious ones I can dismiss right away.
Others I can get rid of by checking an urban legends site –
but that still leaves a lot of misinformation and half-truths.
What do I do with those?
There’s only one solution, isn’t there?
Line them up…
against the straightedge of Your Word.
