Lazaroo – Tuesday, November 6, 2012

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with fresh awareness:
“Don’t you realize that this will end in bitterness?”
(2 Samuel 2:26)
Bitter.
That’s not how I want to end up, Jesus.
It’s not how I want anyone else to end up, either.
What kinds of temptations will I face…
that end in bitterness?
What if to
make my point
get my way
defend myself
I reveal something told to me in confidence?
That might do it.
What if in order to get out of a jam I lie about someone
hurting their reputation
misrepresenting them
destroying their trust in me?
That might do it, too.
What if I become so needy that I steal something
from a stranger
a family member
a neighbor
a friend?
Bitterness is exactly what they’d feel toward me.
But the worst bitterness of all would be the acid eating away my insides
lying there in the dark
knowing I had betrayed You.
