Lazaroo – Saturday, October 20, 2012

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with laser-focused intensity:
“So he got up, took the child and his mother during the night and left for Egypt, where he stayed until the death of Herod.”
(Matthew 2:14-15)
So, Jesus…
Your mom and stepdad had to wait for this evil man to die
before they could reenter the holy land –
where one day
You would work miracles.
That jumps out at me
because I’ve witnessed that same pattern
played out before my very eyes:
People working so hard
to accomplish a great task
that can’t happen
because somebody powerful
is in the way
blocking it.
What they desperately need at that moment
is one good funeral.
That jumps out at me for another reason.
Is there anything You want to happen
that I’m blocking?
If so, show me!
I don’t want my death to be cause for rejoicing
among those around me
who long to enter the land of miracles.
