Lazaroo – Sunday, October 14, 2012
No comments, Oct 14, 2012
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with burning emotion:
“The wicked foe pulls all of them up with hooks, he catches them in his net…”
(Habakkuk 1:15)
I admit it, Jesus.
I vividly remember taking a bite of Satan’s bait.
Like a fisherman who studies the habits of his prey, he knew
what bait would entice me
when I was most susceptible
just how to dangle it in front of me.
He buried his hook deep in the bait so I wouldn’t see it or feel it
until its razor-sharp tip pierced my jaw
and I felt the hard tug of the line
pulling me away from home, friends, safety
into an unfamiliar place where I couldn’t breathe
terrified, flopping helplessly at the bottom of his boat
the life ebbing out of me
as his fillet knife approached.
If you hadn’t rescued me, I’d have been a goner.
Please.
Help me
never
ever
ever
bite that bait again.
