Lazaroo – Sunday, September 23, 2012

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with an eye for eternity:
“I made gardens and parks and planted all kinds of fruit trees in them.”
(Ecclesiastes 2:5)
Gardens and parks are beautiful, Jesus
but when someone plants fruit trees
people can eat.
It’s wonderful to see garden flowers
it’s enjoyable to take leisurely strolls through a park
but when there are fruit trees
visitors to the garden and park
can survive.
Sometimes I forget that –
as though following You
is about looking good.
But it’s more, isn’t it?
It’s not what they think of me.
It’s what they think of You.
My job isn’t to make me look good.
It’s to turn the spotlight on You.
Yes, I want them to see me blossoming
growing
achieving.
Yes, I want them to like me
think I’m a nice person
enjoy my company
But that’s not enough, is it?
I’ve got to be a life-giving fruit tree
who points people
to You.
