Lazaroo – Saturday, September 8, 2012

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with renewed determination:
“…God, who tests our hearts.”
(1 Thessalonians 2:4)
Why do You do that, Jesus?
You already see straight into my heart.
You know exactly what’s there.
Why conduct a test?
Is it for the same reason a wise teacher tests a student –
To show the student how much she’s learned
and how much she doesn’t know?
I need both, don’t I?
It’s so encouraging to see the progress I’ve made since surrendering my life to You.
When You give me a test – and I pass it with flying colors –
I’m in awe of the light years I’ve come.
My gratitude to You knows no bounds.
When You give me a test – and I flunk it –
it’s a wake-up call
a reality check
a much-needed injection of humility
providing me with all the incentive I need
to stay focused on Job #1:
to become just like You.
