Lazaroo – Friday, August 31, 2012

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with sober vigilance:
“…the churches of Judea that are in Christ.”
(Galatians 1:22)
At first glance that phrase appears redundant, Jesus.
Aren’t all churches in You?”
Apparently not.
Even then – all the way back to the beginning –
there were false churches.
Wow.
Sobering.
So if that happened 2,000 years ago, within mere decades of Your death, burial and resurrection…
why would I think it can’t happen today?
Churches on the outside
maybe with a cross or a steeple on the roof
maybe with a choir or a band on the platform
maybe with a preacher in the pulpit
maybe supporting missionaries on foreign soil
maybe with thousands in the congregation
or only a handful
but not churches “in Christ.”
Why?
How does something like that happen?
How does a genuine church turn into a mere social club?
I think I know.
It starts the moment they leave the foundation of Your Word.
