Lazaroo – Thursday, August 30, 2012

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with extravagant love:
“So the woman stayed at home and nursed her son until she had weaned him. After he was weaned, she took the boy with her, young as he was…and brought him to the house of the LORD at Shiloh”
(1 Samuel 1:23-24)
How does a first-time mother do that, Jesus?
How was she able to follow through on her vow
and give her firstborn to You?
Does her extravagant sacrifice somehow explain why You turned her son Samuel
into one of the greatest prophets of all time?
As hard as it was for her to give him up as a toddler
did her pride in what he became years later
more than make up for her loss?
What if she had broken her vow and kept her son home?
Would he have turned out like he did?
Probably not.
You honored her Holy Spirit-led sacrifice.
As You will mine.
