Lazaroo – Sunday, August 26, 2012

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with steely resolve:
“‘I will never break my covenant with you…”
(Judges 2:1)
A lot of people use that word “never” rather loosely, Jesus.
For them, “never” means:
“not for a long time”
“until I grow tired”
“unless I forget”
“until my circumstances change”
“as long as I can hold out”
“so long as I don’t change my mind”
“until the company I work for
goes out of business”
“until somebody else offers me a better deal.”
In other words…
“Don’t hold your breath.”
But when You say, “never” that’s exactly what You mean.
You’ve always been.
You will always be.
When You promise You will “never” break Your covenant with me
You have the power
along with the integrity
and the track record
to back it up.
I don’t have to worry about You keeping Your end of the bargain.
Now all I have to focus on
is keeping mine.
