Lazaroo – Friday, August 10, 2012
No comments, Aug 10, 2012
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, from the depths of your soul:
“‘On that day, declares the LORD, ‘a cry will go up from the Fish Gate, wailing from the New Quarter, and a loud crash from the hills.’”
(Zephaniah 1:10)
I hate loud crashes, Jesus –
well…at least the totally unexpected kind.
They make me nearly jump out of my skin.
If I was in a valley
and suddenly heard a loud crash from the hills
what would I think was happening?
An earthquake?
A landslide?
A lightning strike?
An explosion?
Nothing good, that’s for sure.
And yet, when I’m in trouble
where do I look?
Not down.
Up.
If I’m in a valley
vulnerable
exposed
helpless
quaking with fear
I’m going to lift my eyes to the hills
to the one who made those hills
to the one who made the entire earth
that holds up those hills
to the one
who holds me.
