Lazaroo – Wednesday, August 8, 2012
No comments, Aug 08, 2012
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with iron resolve:
“They will be…drunk from their wine…”
(Nahum 1:10)
Christians continue to debate whether or not it’s a sin to drink, Jesus…
but there’s no debate whatsoever about this:
It’s a sin to get drunk.
Why?
I’m serious.
Why – from Your perspective –
(which is the only perspective that matters)
is it wrong to do something that hundreds of millions of people obviously choose to do?
A buzz feels good, Jesus –
at least to some of us.
That’s its attraction…
and its distraction.
Is that it – the bottom line?
That it distracts me:
from reality
from responsibility
from noticing
from hearing
from seeing
from what You’ve called me to do
from becoming everything
You’ve created me to be?
That it distracts me from even caring that I don’t
notice
hear
see
become everything You’ve created me to be?
Getting drunk isn’t exactly a blessing, is it?
It’s a curse.
