Lazaroo – Thursday, August 2, 2012
No comments, Aug 02, 2012
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with over-the-top trust:
“I will punish her for the days she burned incense to the Baals…”
(Hosea 2:13)
Why do we do this, Jesus?
Why do we think we’re going to get away with the wrong things we do
just because You don’t punish us immediately?
We treat You as though You were an electric outlet.
We defiantly lick our finger and jam it in the socket.
If nothing happens we think we’ll never get shocked.
But that’s not who You are, is it?
You’re a loving God who hates punishing Your people.
You warn us about what will happen
if we persist in disobeying You.
You hold off as long as possible
hoping we’ll come to our senses
correct our misbehavior.
But when we misunderstand Your kindness
for weakness
when we smirk knowingly
at the “emptiness” of Your threats
we force Your hand.
Think I’ll repent now…
while I still can.
