Lazaroo – Saturday, July 28, 2012

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with razor-sharpened focus:
“Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil but what is good.”
(3 John 1:11)
I needed to hear this, Jesus.
There’s too much pride in me.
I don’t like to imitate anybody.
I long to be unique
do things nobody else has done.
But this isn’t a suggestion, is it?
It’s a command.
You’re telling me:
Imitate what is good!
Is this why You put so much good right under my nose so I can’t miss it?
as an example for me to follow?
a template I can use to get me started?
the launching pad I need to propel me upward?
Often that’s the hardest thing of all, isn’t it:
Liftoff.
Once I’m airborne it’s a lot easier to check out the lay of the land from way up there
to branch out by faith and discover
how to put my one-of-a-kind spin on it.
