I love that about You, Jesus:

I can count on You.

You don’t say one thing today

and trot out something totally contradictory the next.

You’re not in a good mood when I leave the house this morning

and in a bad mood when I come home tonight.

You don’t make a promise this afternoon

then withdraw it next week.

You don’t tell me warm, loving things to my face

then rip me to shreds behind my back.

You’re consistent

solid
reliable
steadfast
trustworthy
dependable
steady
faithful
firm
secure.

Somehow, You manage to be all that

without ever being boring

stiff
predictable
inflexible
stuck in a rut.

No, you don’t change like shifting shadows.

But I can count on You to be

fresh
creative
surprising

and utterly, captivatingly

wonderful.
