Lazaroo – Sunday, July 15, 2012

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in humble abandon:
“Answer me when I call to you, O my righteous God.”
(Psalms 4:1)
This sounds like a demand, Jesus.
But it’s not.
It’s the sound of desperation.
It’s the prayer of David –
the prayer of a man
who knows You have the power to act
if You wish
who believes in Your goodness
and knows You love to help underdogs
who has cried out to You in the past
and experienced Your miraculous intervention
who knows You not only hear him
but can clearly see his desperate situation
who has no hope
unless You come through for him.
I’m no David.
Although I long to be…
I can’t claim to be a person after Your own heart.
But except for that
I now use those same words
pray that same prayer:
Answer me when I call to You –
O my righteous God!
