Lazaroo – Thursday, July 12, 2012

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with eyes wide open:
“He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message…”
(Titus 1:9)
There’s only one message that’s trustworthy, Jesus.
Yours.
Every other message –
no matter how sincere
no matter how honest the messenger
no matter how verifiable the facts
is potentially flawed.
People can be sincerely wrong.
Honest people make mistakes.
Facts are only as good as the fact-finder.
Facts tempt us to draw conclusions
which can be undone by the discovery
of a new fact.
We human beings are so flawed
so blinded by our own
dreams
perspectives
prejudices
preferences
personalities
beliefs
emotions
incomplete education
cultural biases
faulty reasoning
that all we can claim
is some percentage of probability that we’re right –
a percentage we’ve probably miscalculated
because we can’t accurately weigh
or even identify
all factors.
When I put total trust in a human being
I’m merely engaging in wishful thinking, aren’t I?
Only You, LORD.
Only You.
