Lazaroo – Friday, July 6, 2012

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, from the depths of your soul:
“…we ask you, brothers, not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by some prophecy…”
(2 Thessalonians 2:1-2)
They’re out there, aren’t they, Jesus?
prophets
predictions
prophecies
prognostications.
I know many of them are false – probably most of them.
But some are legitimate, aren’t they?
You don’t change.
In the past, You chose prophets and spoke through them.
You’ve established the office of Prophet in Your Church
made it clear we absolutely need them
if we’re going to reach unity and maturity.
I don’t want to make the same mistake many of Your people made in the past
rejecting Your legitimate prophets
because they didn’t want to hear the things they predicted.
But with so many false prophets cluttering the religious landscape
how can I tell the fake from the genuine?
I guess I’d better use the same test you laid down 2,000 years ago:
Inspect their fruit.
