Lazaroo – Friday, June 29, 2012

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in overwhelmed gratitude for God’s grace:
“Now you yourself know what Joab son of Zeruiah did to me—what he did to the two commanders of Israel’s armies, Abner son of Ner and Amasa son of Jether. He killed them, shedding their blood in peacetime as if in battle, and with that blood stained the belt around his waist and the sandals on his feet. Deal with him according to your wisdom, but do not let his gray head go down to the grave in peace.”
(1 Kings 2:5-6)
Everything David said about Joab was true, Jesus…
but it wasn’t the whole truth.
Joab had also done David’s dirty work
causing the death of Uriah
one of David’s mighty men
to help David cover up his adultery
with Uriah’s wife, Bathsheba.
Joab deserved to die.
But so did David.
And so do I.
Thank you for not treating me as my sins deserve.
