Lazaroo – Saturday, June 23, 2012

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with lavish love:
“Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried.”
(Ruth 1:17)
That’s a strong statement, Jesus.
It’s one thing to love people while they’re living
Quite another to promise to love them
after they’ve died –
and after I’ve died, too.
A lot of people would say such promises
are foolish
insincere.
Once the person I love has died
“It’s over,” they say.
“Move on.”
After all, they reason…
“They’re gone.
“Why tie your hands?
“Your loved one won’t know the difference.”
But don’t count me in their number.
I see things a little differently.
I happen to believe You when You tell me
I’ll live forever
as will everyone who puts their faith in You.
So when I make promises to someone I love
about what I’ll do after we both die
they remain in force.
Since both of us will always know:
I kept them.
