Lazaroo – Monday, June 4, 2012

Pour out the full contents of Your soul as You pray aloud the words of this Lazaroo to God:
“You have made men like fish in the sea…”
(Habakkuk 1:14)
This is one upset, angry, frustrated prophet, Jesus.
True, You’re the Creator of all human beings.
You made fish, too.
But when he accuses You of making men like fish
that’s no compliment, is it?
He’s angry at the way Your people are behaving
and He’s blaming You.
Why did You let him get away with talking like that to You?
Even more puzzling, why did You preserve his disrespectful words in the Bible
for countless generations
billions of people
to see?
The only answer I can think of is that You want us to know what he said
that You wanted him to pour out his soul to You –
even if his soul contained dark, ugly thoughts.
That’s how much You love and value this deeply flawed, troubled, man
and me.
