Lazaroo – Friday, June 1, 2012
No comments, Jun 01, 2012
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in sober self-assessment:
“Then they took Jonah and threw him overboard, and the raging sea grew calm.”
(Jonah 1:15)
I really don’t want to be this person, Jesus –
the one they have to throw overboard
to fix the problem.
But I’m not fooling myself.
All too easily…
that’s what can happen.
What seems small to me can be huge for everyone else –
including that one person who means the most to me.
I tend to excuse my faults
laugh them off
take them in stride
overlook how much they negatively affect other people.
After all…
I’m used to them
they’re just my idiosyncrasies
harmless character traits.
“This is me!” I tell people, “warts and all.
“Take me or leave me.”
Maybe that’s one of the reasons You included the real-life account of Jonah in the Bible:
to remind me that when given the choice…
they might just choose the latter.
