Lazaroo – Tuesday, May 29, 2012
No comments, May 29, 2012
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with vivid awareness:
“How the cattle moan! The herds mill about because they have no pasture…”
(Joel 1:18)
I’m trying to get a picture of these cows, Jesus…
turning in circles
confused, aimless
bumping into each other
sniffing the dry ground in a vain attempt
to find a morsel of grass
making an awful sound
the exact opposite of the contented lowing
of a cow that has eaten its full.
That’s me –
when I stop feeding on Your Word.
when reading, studying, researching my Bible
are no longer part of my daily life.
I lose my sense of real purpose
unsettled
distracted
frustrated
discontent.
Somewhere within me there’s a deep, inner moaning
expressing itself on the outside
with whining, sarcasm, criticism, complaint.
So why, exactly, do I allow myself to backslide into this miserable state?
I get busy
miss a day
then two
and before long
I’m no longer my Christian self.
