Lazaroo – Saturday, May 12, 2012

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with laser-focused intensity:
“My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you…”
(Proverbs 2:1)
It takes both, doesn’t it, Jesus?
First, I have to know every word of the Bible is true.
But that’s not enough.
I have to be able to draw on Your truth
the moment I need it.
To do that, I have to store up Your commands within me
make note of the verses You bring to my attention
commit them to memory.
Believing the Bible without remembering what it says
is like a lawman in America’s wild west
who walks the streets at night
packing an unloaded gun.
When an outlaw jumps from the shadows
there’s no time for the sheriff to shout –
“Wait a second!
I need to run back and get my bullets!”
Your Word has to be loaded in my mind
ready to fire with my very next thought.
