Lazaroo – Saturday, April 7, 2012

Maybe you ought to pray the words of this Lazaroo…silently!
“‘Be quiet!’ said Jesus sternly.”
(Mark 1:25)
So much for the namby-pamby version of who You are, Jesus.
You stopped the yammering of that demon with two powerful words:
“Be quiet!”
Come to think of it…
You stopped a violent storm out on the water
in much the same way.
I don’t want to be noise in Your ears, LORD.
I don’t want to hear that rebuke from You!
So when would You like me to be quiet?
Might it be…
when I’m tempted to gossip?
in the calm, peaceful life You call me to live every day?
when I start to say something unwholesome?
when I’m about to say something my church can’t understand?
when somebody’s counting on me to keep a secret?
when I realize my need to qet away…
give my mouth a break…
and just rest?
At such times, please help me
be quiet.
