Lazaroo – Sunday, March 18, 2012
No comments, Mar 18, 2012
Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with undying zeal:
“I will stop all her celebrations: her yearly festivals, her New Moons, her Sabbath days—all her appointed feasts.”
(Hosea 2:11)
These celebrations were Your idea, Jesus.
You commanded the Israelites to observe them.
But they had become empty, hadn’t they?
They had lost their meaning.
Your people were still celebrating
but they were only going through the motions.
Their lives belied their words.
They knew what they were supposed to say
the songs they were supposed to sing
but they didn’t mean it from their hearts.
I’m at risk for that, too.
The more familiar the song
the better I like it
and the more likely I am
to be able to sing it without thinking.
The more familiar the Bible passage
the greater the danger
that I’ll think I already know everything it teaches.
Please LORD:
Help me stay
fresh
humble
tuned in
and teachable.
