Lazaroo – Friday, March 2, 2012

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, with no-holds-barred surrender:
“My son, if you accept my words…”
(Proverbs 2:1)
When did this become hard, Jesus?
As a child, I believed everything anyone told me.
Then I learned the hard way:
Not everything people tell me is true.
Some people said things they didn’t mean –
by accident, a slip of the tongue –
but their innocent misstatements
created huge problems for me.
Then there were those who told me things they fervently believed to be true.
Their conviction convinced me…
until I discovered for myself
they were badly mistaken.
The hardest lesson, though, was to face the fact that some people
are boldfaced liars.
What a devastating, disillusioning, heartbreaking discovery!
No wonder You send every liar to hell.
All this misinformation has turned me into a wounded cynic who skeptically filters everything I hear.
But please, LORD:
Deliver me from that heaviness each day…
as I open myself to Your Word.
