Lazaroo – Tuesday, February 28, 2012

Pray the words of this Lazaroo aloud, in stunned gratitude:
“I appeal to you for my son Onesimus…”
(Philemon 1:10)
Let me see if I have this straight, Jesus:
Here’s the great Apostle Paul –
to whom You’ve assigned the gargantuan task of launching Your Church –
taking time from his high level responsibilities
to help a runaway slave?!
Sure, he calls him his son, but that’s an honorary title.
They’re not really related.
On top of that
You include this short little do-me-a-favor letter in the Bible!
Faithful Christians have been reading it over and over again for centuries!
Okay.
I’m tempted to walk away from this shaking my head, baffled
But You’re God.
You don’t make mistakes.
Every time You do something unexpected
You’re inviting me to take a closer look and try to understand why:
Apparently, You want even extremely busy people
with extremely important responsibilities
eventually affecting billions of people
to be reminded that one person matters.
